Contractors All Risk commonly referred to as CAR covers a contractors obligations on works of civil engineering construction from site investigation through site preparation, construction, testing (where applicable) to handover and during any prescribed subsequent maintenance period.
The policy is written on “all risks” basis and cover includes:
- Fire and allied perils.
- Accidental damage.
- Collapse, collision, impact, theft, malicious damage.
- Damage due to faults in design, materials, workmanship.
- Maintenance.
- Third Party Liability.
The sum insured should reflect the contract value in respect of civil works. The policy is subject to a single excess or both a basic and a higher differential excess.
