Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) – This was formally known as Workman Compensation. With this policy, cover is provided in respect of bodily injury by accident or disease caused during the period of insurance and arising out of and in the course of employment. This policy protects employers against liabilities that would arise due to mistakes or negligence on their part towards employees.

Compensation can take the form of either medical expense (maximum limit Kshs100, 000/-), funeral expenses (maximum limit Kshs 30,000/-) or payments of awards either from the Ministry of Labour or legal authorities. We recommend this policy to all businesses to ensure that employers are fully protected from such claims. As of 2nd June 2008, this policy is mandatory for all business entities to have by law. WIBA will respond to claims made by employees through the Labour office.
